Katharine Flynn fell in love with writing at a young age, from Nancy Drew to Edith Wharton, the transportive nature of the craft compelled her. Matriculating to Princeton University afforded her the opportunity to hone her skills under the tutelage of world-class mentors including Joyce Carol Oates, Jeffrey Eugenides and Edmund White. After graduating with a degree in English and a concentration in Russian Literature, she embarked on a career in advertising and production. Ten years of experience in the industry provided her insight into how to conceive of a message that changes minds and galvanizes people.

Armed with this information, she was ready to take the next step in her career—applying her skillset to her passion for advocacy work. She has developed marketing and campaign materials for a number of non-profit and political action organizations including working as a writer for Brand New Congress and creating content for Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's eventual primary upset; platform conception and tonal work on Cori Bush's Congressional campaign; driving fundraising efforts for the Ali Forney Center, where she volunteers as a youth mentor and devising the website and campaign postcards for the documentary, Active Measures, which draws a clear line between Putin's interests and Trump's. The film premiered at Hot Docs and will be released on Netflix in August.

Currently, in addition to her role with Motive, Katharine works as a senior writer at Havas Worldwide in New York City.
